Jarrid Williams is a hot commodity on the transfer market after he announced his intentions to transfer away from the Houston Cougars. And, just like that, he’s listed his top five schools, your USC Trojans being one of them.
Williams listed his top five schools with USC the only west coast team by some distance, speaking to the power of Clay Helton and Co.’s reach this offseason. His five schools are Florida State, Baylor, Ole Miss, Miami and USC.
He stands 6’7, 305 pounds and started the first four games of last season before the majority of the Houston program shut it down and redshirted. He played and started all 13 games during the 2018 season and logged over 900 snaps in the process.
He’s a solid all-around tackle and in 2018, was one of the better pass protectors in the AAC for D’Eriq King and the Cougars.
Drew Richmond’s emergence on the roster a season ago bumped Jalen McKenzie out of the starting right tackle spot, a role he filled in the Holiday Bowl, so it is interesting to see if Williams were to come out west, if he would do the same to McKenzie, or if he would battle for the starting role.
Either way, a guy with his experience and his size, would be a welcome addition to the offensive line.
